California's Jerry Brown gets a puppy, announces her appointment as 'deputy first dog'
What's the best way to tell the world about your new pet?
In an official press release, of course.
California Gov. Jerry Brown announced new appointments on Wednesday. Among them were two reappointments to an agricultural association.
The third: Cali Brown as "deputy first dog."
Cali is a "bordoodle" — a mix between a poodle and a border collie — who was born in January. She joins the Browns' other dog, Colusa, in her official dog duties.
"As Deputy First Dog and the newest member of the Brown family, Cali will assist First Dog Colusa Brown in herding staff at the State Capitol and will lend a paw around the family ranch in Colusa County," the governor's office said. "She will begin intensive on-the-job training with the First Dog effective immediately."
Colusa seems ready for her new partner in crime.
"As #FirstDog, I'm happy to introduce the newest member of our pack and #DeputyFirstDog Cali Brown," the first dog (or, you know, Brown's staff) tweeted.
